Analyzing how health is framed in Kentucky news coverage
Berkeley Media Studies Group is helping the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky evaluate its Promoting Responsive Healthy Policy initiative, which works to promote policies and practices that increase access to health care, improve children's health, and bolster smoke-free protections for Kentuckians.
To do this, BMSG is conducting a news analysis to assess how these efforts to improve health are framed in Kentucky news, and how the work of their grantees who are carrying out these goals is portrayed. BMSG will examine both the news coverage that the Foundation and grantees generate, as well as the broader coverage around the initiative's policy priorities. We will also analyze the Foundation's and its grantees' visibility in the news and assess how news coverage portrays the need for policy change to create a healthier Kentucky.
