Communicating for health equity: A conversation with San Mateo County Health System and Youth Leadership Institute
Date: June 11, 2019
Across California and the country, a growing number of health departments are working to uncover and combat the root causes of health inequities by focusing on social issues like education, housing, and poverty. In 2017, San Mateo County Health System’s Health, Policy, and Planning Program was recognized by The California Endowment for their innovative efforts to advance equity. Their work includes partnering with the Youth Leadership Institute (YLI), an organization dedicated to promoting policy change that makes our communities more just and equitable for young people, especially young people of color.
In this webinar, BMSG’s Katherine Schaff talks to Shireen Malekafzali, Senior Manager for Policy, Planning, and Equity at San Mateo County Health System, and Eduardo “Lalo” Gonzalez, Program Manager at YLI, to learn more about their work, especially how their partnership helps them build better communication strategies for their health equity work.
