SF Urban Film Festival: ‘Cooked: Survival by Zipcode’

Date: Feburary 15, 2021

Our health equity coordinator Katherine Schaff moderated a panel discussion on the connection between place and health on February 15, during the 7th Annual SF Urban Film Fest . The panel explored how policy violence has led to so much unjust and preventable suffering, from the tragic 1995 Chicago heatwave to today’s power blackouts amid frigid temperatures in Texas. Panelists included: Pancho Arguelles, Executive Director of Living Hope Wheelchair Association; Judith Helfand, Director, Cooked: Survival By Zipcode; Dr. Tony Iton, Senior VP Healthy Communities, The California Endowment; and Berta Hernández, Director of Family Services, Instituto Familiar de la Raza, Inc.
