During this Oct. 7 webinar, BMSG and our partners at the Hope and Heal fund shared findings from the release of our new publication, Understanding Violence and Prevention During a Pandemic. This report reveals shifts in coverage related to the three major types of day-to-day gun violence (including firearm suicide, domestic violence incidents, and community-level violence), and highlights trends in news about police violence and gun sales. We hope this analysis provides a helpful starting point for our partners working to shift and strengthen news narratives about guns, gun violence, and their impact on communities of color in California and beyond.
